A bootcamp project makes your learning visible, but a screenshot or repository alone may not explain its value. A strong portfolio also shows the problem you addressed and how you made decisions.
Start with the problem and user
Explain whose problem you are solving. "I built a dashboard for a sales team to compare weekly performance by region and product" is clearer than "I built a dashboard." State your scope and assumptions.
Make decisions visible
Show research, design, development, and assessment through meaningful examples.
- Which alternatives did you consider?
- Why did you leave a feature out of scope?
- What changed after feedback?
Focus on decisions that influenced the result. They demonstrate problem-solving as well as familiarity with tools.
Include evidence that fits your field
For frontend work, include a demo, repository, accessibility checks, and tests where relevant. For analytics, show queries, data sources, cleaning decisions, and limitations. For product work, include research findings, prioritization reasoning, and MVP scope.
Do not claim outcomes you have not measured. Label sample data and avoid publishing personal or confidential company information.
Explain your individual contribution
Distinguish your responsibilities from shared work. A clear account of your contribution can matter more than project size. Credit components, datasets, and other sources.
Help others review your work
Document setup steps and a sample workflow. Share environment variable names, never keys or passwords. If there is no live demo, provide a short video or screen walkthrough.
Finish with lessons learned
Explain what you completed, what remains limited, and what you would improve next. Changes made after mentor feedback show how you develop your work.
Review the intended final outcome on each MySupervise bootcamp page and plan a project process you can explain in your portfolio.
