A corporate bootcamp starts with a business need, not a topic list. Preparing candidates for hiring, developing an existing team, and building practical experience in a community require different programs.
Define the role and skills
Describe what participants should be able to do by the end. "AI training" is broad; designing and evaluating a prototype that classifies customer feedback is more concrete. Include communication, documentation, and teamwork alongside technical skills.
Match the audience to the starting level
Graduates, career changers, and experienced employees need different preparation. Application questions and a short exercise where appropriate help assess readiness. Assessment should relate to the role and be understandable to candidates.
Organize the program around a project
Connect classes to a shared outcome. Specify when research, an initial solution, and feedback will happen.
- Start: goals, scope, and preparation.
- Midpoint: initial work and a review of gaps.
- Final: presentation, working files, and assessment.
Set access and confidentiality conditions before using company data. Sample datasets may be a suitable alternative.
Share assessment criteria in advance
Look beyond appearance. Consider problem fit, correctness, decision reasoning, communication, and responses to feedback. A common framework supports more consistent comparisons.
Plan operations and progress tracking
Bring together the schedule, instructor responsibilities, communication channel, and submissions. Track attendance and milestones. Compare outcomes with original goals in the final report; participant count alone is not a measure of success.
Plan what happens afterward
Define the interview process for hiring programs, or how employees will apply their learning at work. Participation does not constitute an employment commitment.
