Start with what you want to be able to do by the end of a bootcamp. Entering a new field, improving existing skills, and building a portfolio require different preparation.
1. Define a concrete outcome
Replace "I want to learn development" with building a web application where users can register. In analytics, your outcome might be answering a business question with SQL and presenting a dashboard. In product management, it could be an MVP plan grounded in user needs.
2. Compare prerequisites with your skills
Beginner and intermediate programs expect different preparation. A React program may require basic JavaScript; product discovery may emphasize research and problem-solving.
- Have you used the required tools?
- Can you explain the fundamentals through practical work?
- Is there preparation to complete before the start?
Describe gaps honestly in your application. Choosing the right level helps you make better use of the program.
3. Allow time outside live classes
Classes are only part of the schedule. Assignments, research, project development, and revisions also take time. Compare the calendar with your work or study commitments. Ask the team if the expected weekly workload is unclear.
4. Read the curriculum alongside the project outcome
A long topic list does not explain how those topics come together. Look for project milestones, feedback, and a final presentation. Clear assessment criteria make it easier to track progress.
5. Check participation conditions
Review the format, dates, application process, and certificate conditions. Recordings and opportunities to meet companies depend on the program. A bootcamp does not guarantee employment.
A checklist before applying
- The project outcome matches my goal.
- I have reviewed the level and prerequisites.
- I can make time for classes and project work.
- I understand assessment and participation conditions.
